Here, my boy Louis ventures into a Miami county jail. This is the type of jail that people go to before their court date, aka before they've actually been convicted of crimes. Some of these guys are killers, rapists, burglars, etc...

These guys reside in cells that can have many people living in them at once. Often guys will get the shit kicked out of them because they're from different gangs, or they're saying dumb shit.

This one guy is accused of attempting to murder a chick because she pissed him off... This guy is so small and weak, I almost feel bad for the guy cuz I know he won't make it very far in this jail.

Dear Zachary is the story of Andrew Bagby, who got shot in the face by his girlfriend. The evidence against her was overwhelming but she just peaced to Canada where government lets her walk free. Bagby's parents are pissed, but they also want custody over their unborn grandson in the girlfriends guts. The soon to be grandparents dip after the girlfriend to Newfoundland where they are forced to kiss her ass in order to see the kid.

Heimo Korth is the name of a guy who lives with his wife in isolation in Alaska. He has a lot of serious skills and shows you some. At one point he skins and guts a rabbit using only his hands.

This is about a white guy going to North Korea to film a documentary. I was surprised at how much shit he gets to see and film. The most bomb part is in part 3, The Grand Mass Gymnastics and Artistic Performance Arirang which celebrates Kim Il Sung's birthday.

Keith recently wrote an autobiography called "Life." This is basically a BBC interview with Keith, asking him stuff about his life, and what it was like being a Rolling Stone.

Keith Richards my favourite guitar player, and possibly my favourite musician of all time... This clip shows everyone how truly bad ass he is. It covers the start of his musical career and ends basically in 1970. It gets awesome toward the end when shit starts to hit the fan in the States.

These guys are seriously pissed off most of the time, although some of them are G's.

Louis Theroux: The Ultra Zionists

My boy Louis spends time with Ultra Zionists who claim that ownership of the West Bank area in Israel is their divine right.

He also spends time with a few Palestinians who own the land under both Israeli and National law... They see these Jews moving in and are getting pissed. Many of the Palestinians feel that their land is being taken away, with many of the Jews illegally setting up camp in areas of the West Bank.There are skirmishes all the time in these areas, and the Jews are being treated like piss.

My description of this isn't all that great, because the situation is somewhat complicated... But the fact alone that someone views a piece of earth as rightfully theirs under the word of god is somewhat whack.

Louis Theroux: Thai Brides

Louis Theroux struck gold yet again in this brilliant documentary which featured the ‘Introduction Services’ available in Thailand to men from overseas seeking Thai women for marriage. White dudes from everywhere are going to marry these Thai chicks... Some of them get married after a few days, it's pretty jokes.

Although presented in a fairly light-hearted format, it was very thought-provoking. Of course, to most of us the notion of these agencies is abhorrent to say the least, but I think they're pretty OK. Largely due to the style of presentation, it was quite revealing to listen to the viewpoints of the ‘clients’ and owners, who seemed to feel comfortable expressing their views. Louis Theroux’ style, which does not at first appear overly challenging, allows a truer insight into a person’s behaviour and makes him/her less defensive and consequently more candid.

ESPN has done this documentary series called 30 for 30, where they released a bunch of amazing sports docs. I've only seen a few of the 30 episodes so far, but they're all amazing. I've posted those that I have seen below:

Watch The Two Escobars

This episode is an amazing story chronicling the lives of Pablo Escobar, the ballin Columbian drug dealer, and Andres Escobar, a famous Colombian soccer player. The two Escobars are not related, but their lives are actually related in a lot of ways. There are lots of awesome soccer highlights and some fucked up politics. Although reading some Spanish is a bit annoying, I still think this is one of the best ones that I've seen so far

Watch Once Brothers

This episode is made by Vlade Divac and it follows his crazy relationship with Drazen Petrovic as they make their transitions from European basketball to life in the NBA. For those who don't know, Petrovic was called the European Michael Jordan by many, and they even had a few heated battles. He and Divac dominated European and even battled the US in a few heated battles. Just like in Winning Time there are lots of good interviews, this time with guys like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, even more old-school.

Watch Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. The New York Knicks

As the title explains, this episode is about Reggie Miller's epic battle against the New York Knicks in the NBA Playoffs. I knew Reggie Miller was good, but some of the shots that he makes are actually crazy. He's also a sick trash-talker, and just all around a jokes guy. There are some great interviews with Patrick Ewing, Pat Riley, Larry Brown, and lots of other old-school ballers.

Watch Straight Outta LA

This Episode is narrated by Ice Cube and it discusses the connection that gangster rap had with the LA Raiders during their up-and-down 13 year stay in Hollywood. In the 80's Los Angeles fell in love with the Raiders and gangster rap, almost simultaneously. I never knew the Raiders even played in LA, let alone the impact that they had on NWA, gangster rap in general, and the clothing people wore. There are appearances from rappers like Snoop Dogg and Ice T, as well as football icons like Howie Long and Al Davis. And needless to say, the music is sick.

Watch Muhammad and Larry

This episode centres around a fight between Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes, Ali's final fight in the US. They go further back and chronicle Ali's and Holmes' careers, both of which feature some incredible boxing matches. There are interviews with greats like Sonny Liston and Joe Frazier, and obviously Ali and Holmes themselves. It was pretty insane to watch the progression in Ali's speed, ability, and even speech, as the Parkinson's disease began setting in.

Watch Without Bias

This episode is about the death of Boston Celtics' draft pick Len Bias. I had heard of Bias, the 2nd overall pick in the 1986 NBA Draft, but I never knew that he died before ever playing an NBA game. The man was definitely a baller; staring for Maryland in college, and then having Celtics' star Larry Bird and coach Red Auerbach praying for him to go to Boston. Len's overdose at the age of 22 was extremely unexpected and would have a huge impact on how the US deals with drugs in sports. Many credit him with saving the lives of countless future athletes.

Watch No Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson

This is by far the least entertaining episode that I've watched so far, but it's still pretty good. It's about Allen Iverson back in his Virginia high school days, when he was convicted of assault following a racial brawl. I didn't know much about AI, but he was definitely an amazing athlete. There are some great highlights and some funny interviews; still worth watching. Sadly I haven't found a good version yet that has it all in one clip, but for now this one will have to do.

Watch The House that Steinbrenner Built

This episode documents the transition that the Yankees made from Old Yankee Stadium to New Yankee Stadium in 2009. George Steinbrenner was the most prolific Yankees owner, a man who truly loved the team, the fans, and the game. His death in July 2010 shocked the Pinstripe faithful as well as the entire baseball community. It is amazing to look back at just how historic the New York Yankees really are.

Watch Into The Wind

This episode, about Terry Fox's cross-Canada run for Cancer, is directed and partially narrated by Steve Nash. The doc discusses Terry's childhood and the amputation of his leg, before covering the entirety of his run. It is amazing to see how his run developed, from cars trying to run him off the road in Quebec to a huge parade blocking traffic in Toronto. Before his tragic death in June 1928, Terry inspired millions of Canadians and many others worldwide, and still does today.

If you don't already know who epic beard man is, you never saw this video. Thomas Bruso (beard man) became famous as a result of this video and another where he gets tased at an A's game. This documentary reveals what kind of boss Bruso is, "I knocked my own motherfucking father out at age 15 he was 6'5" 250lbs". This shits only 17 minutes.

This is a documentary about street artists. The guy filming is a bit dumb but somehow gets extremely lucky. He hangs out with Shepard Fairey, the guy that made the Obama poster, and eventually meets and films Banksy. It gets even more interesting when Thierry, the cameraman, decides on a whim to make his own street art. Despite people working with him calling him "kind of retarded", he ends up selling a million bones worth of his art in one exhibition.

Frontline does it again. In The Confessions, Frontline investigates the conviction of four men -- current and former sailors in the U.S. Navy -- for the rape and murder of a Norfolk, Va., woman in 1997. In the first television interviews with the "Norfolk Four" since their release, Bikel learns of some of the high-pressure police interrogation techniques -- the threat of the death penalty, sleep deprivation, intimidation -- that led each of the men to confess, despite the lack of any evidence linking them to the crime.

The series of events in this is so crazy that it's almost unbelievable. Furthermore, it highlights the fact that the government can get just about anyone to confess to killing someone, details and everything. I truly feel sorry for these fuckers, some of them are in jail for like 13 years before they get let out. Once they're out, they're convicted sex offenders, so they can't get a job or live anywhere by their parents houses.

You gotta watch this one, the timeline of events is incredible.

I didn't know who Bill Hicks was until I clicked a link from some Joe Rogan bullshit I was watching & started laughing my ass off. He wasn't just funny, he spoke the truth about some far out shit. He was a well read guy, whether it was religion, politics, consumerism, or some other bullshit. This documentary is part stand up and part interviews with comedians and tv personalities that knew him. If I had to compare him to another comedian it would probably be George Carlin, but more direct and foul.

This documentary, in my eyes, dumps a huge steamer on people who still believe that the death penalty is a good idea. Since 1976, when the Supreme Court lifted a ban on execution, Todd Willingham is the most prominent case of a person who was convicted and executed for a crime he may not have committed.

Basically, while his wife was gone, his house burned down and his three children were inside. He did not rush in to save their lives. Later that night he was seen at a bar playing darts, getting drunk, and having a good time. How fucked up is that? At first, you'd believe that he's the murderer. Further in, real experts with valid opinions will make their voices heard, and you'll realize that you were thinking like a southern idiot. Who cares if he gets drunk at a bar after? Who cares if he appears to be having a good time? All that matters is the real evidence. According to arson experts, there was nothing in the evidence presented at his 1992 trial that suggests it was an arson fire that killed his three children. Basically, Willingham is innocent.

Oops. Too bad. Already sentenced him to death, and he is on death row. But wait, the Governor can stop his death by haulting the execution, and he has 7 years to do it. Again, too bad the Governor is an idiot and relies on his instincts (wrong) rather than facts and rationality (right).

So Todd dies.

On the streets of Lagos, it is not the police who wield power but gangs of fight-hardened young men known as Area Boys. Louis spends time with several outfits, joining them as they patrol their turf, clash with local rivals and keep the peace in a brutal and haphazard fashion. The main income for the Area Boys is an arbitrary and unofficial form of taxation, extracted from local businesses and commercial drivers. Louis gets to know the rich and glamorous Area Boy leader MC, a former street youth himself, who has now become a friend of the most powerful men in the city. Taken under MC’s wing, Louis experiences the top levels of the Area Boys’ world from the inside, complete with a tour of MC’s grand residence and extensive shoe collection, and ending in a chaotic mini-riot with gunshots, blood and mayhem.

On the side of the law, Louis Theroux rides with KAI, the government’s Kick Against Indiscipline paramilitary task force, as they storm different city districts. With bulldozers and arrest warrants, KAI use their own strong-arm tactics, and are in their way as feared as the Area Boys.

In Law and Disorder in Lagos, Louis Theroux wrestles with life in a world in which the forces of law and the forces of disorder are not always readily distinguishable and nothing is quite what it seems. Definitely Louis' most badass one yet, I feel like he's in danger for the vast majority of this film.

Proposition 19

OK people, this is huge. This isn't an actual documentary, but it concerns something so ridiculously important that I need to share it with all of you.

On November 2nd, the state of California will be holding a statewide ballot, Proposition 19, which will decide whether or not to legalize marijuana in the within the state. For the bill to pass, they require a simple majority (50%+ in favor). Check out the official Proposition 19 site.

What will legalizing actually do? Basically, people under the age of 21 will be able to possess up to 28g of herb. 28g = 1 oz. Also, citizens will be able to use fun grass in a private place, such as their own home or a licensed site (like bars or pubs). Further, peepz can grow the green stuff in a 2.3 square meter area.There are

More importantly, government is gonna regulate this whole process, and allow sale of up to 28 grams per transaction. Find more info about regulation and taxation at the Proposition 19 Wikipedia page.

How will this affect California negatively? Look at the official No on Prop. 19 Website. Many of their concerns are legitimate, and many, I feel, are not.

Basically about a guy who is trying to film an infomercial for the new 1989 Winnebago line, but is having a bit of an off day. They even made a documentary about this years later; click here to see the trailer.

If you haven't seen this, you HAVE to watch. I literally cried for 7.5 minutes.

I'm having trouble rating this because it isn't a true documentary. My instinct tells me to give this one a 10/10, but I should probably play that one down a bit due to the fact that this is just a short youtube clip essentially about nothing. So here it is. The Definitive Winnebago Man.

This documentary definitely fits within the category "whack people."

Meet Issei Sagawa, a Japanese dude who decided to kill a girl, rape her, then eat part of her body. He's felt cannibalistic tendencies since he was young, but had always suppressed them. One day, while attending University in France, he cracked.

What's even more amazing is that the French government allowed him to return to Japan where (as the French though) he would serve proper time and receive proper treatment. Anyone who knows anything about the criminal justice system knows that the only place you can pay for a crime is the place where you were charged with it.

So the guy went back to Japan, and was set free. Still alive today, he does whack pornos among other weird shit. This "sexual psychopath" has also become a sort of anti-hero in Japan. Awesome? You be the judge.
