Hoop Dreams follows a pair of kids from the Chicago streets over a period of five years as they try to make it as ballers. It won best documentary at sundance and landed on a bunch of critics' top ten lists. Siskel and Ebert called this shit the best film of the year. It's more about the kids trying to get their families out of the shithole they live in than about basketball.
