Here, my boy Louis ventures into a Miami county jail. This is the type of jail that people go to before their court date, aka before they've actually been convicted of crimes. Some of these guys are killers, rapists, burglars, etc...

These guys reside in cells that can have many people living in them at once. Often guys will get the shit kicked out of them because they're from different gangs, or they're saying dumb shit.

This one guy is accused of attempting to murder a chick because she pissed him off... This guy is so small and weak, I almost feel bad for the guy cuz I know he won't make it very far in this jail.

Frontline does it again. In The Confessions, Frontline investigates the conviction of four men -- current and former sailors in the U.S. Navy -- for the rape and murder of a Norfolk, Va., woman in 1997. In the first television interviews with the "Norfolk Four" since their release, Bikel learns of some of the high-pressure police interrogation techniques -- the threat of the death penalty, sleep deprivation, intimidation -- that led each of the men to confess, despite the lack of any evidence linking them to the crime.

The series of events in this is so crazy that it's almost unbelievable. Furthermore, it highlights the fact that the government can get just about anyone to confess to killing someone, details and everything. I truly feel sorry for these fuckers, some of them are in jail for like 13 years before they get let out. Once they're out, they're convicted sex offenders, so they can't get a job or live anywhere by their parents houses.

You gotta watch this one, the timeline of events is incredible.

This documentary, in my eyes, dumps a huge steamer on people who still believe that the death penalty is a good idea. Since 1976, when the Supreme Court lifted a ban on execution, Todd Willingham is the most prominent case of a person who was convicted and executed for a crime he may not have committed.

Basically, while his wife was gone, his house burned down and his three children were inside. He did not rush in to save their lives. Later that night he was seen at a bar playing darts, getting drunk, and having a good time. How fucked up is that? At first, you'd believe that he's the murderer. Further in, real experts with valid opinions will make their voices heard, and you'll realize that you were thinking like a southern idiot. Who cares if he gets drunk at a bar after? Who cares if he appears to be having a good time? All that matters is the real evidence. According to arson experts, there was nothing in the evidence presented at his 1992 trial that suggests it was an arson fire that killed his three children. Basically, Willingham is innocent.

Oops. Too bad. Already sentenced him to death, and he is on death row. But wait, the Governor can stop his death by haulting the execution, and he has 7 years to do it. Again, too bad the Governor is an idiot and relies on his instincts (wrong) rather than facts and rationality (right).

So Todd dies.

Proposition 19

OK people, this is huge. This isn't an actual documentary, but it concerns something so ridiculously important that I need to share it with all of you.

On November 2nd, the state of California will be holding a statewide ballot, Proposition 19, which will decide whether or not to legalize marijuana in the within the state. For the bill to pass, they require a simple majority (50%+ in favor). Check out the official Proposition 19 site.

What will legalizing actually do? Basically, people under the age of 21 will be able to possess up to 28g of herb. 28g = 1 oz. Also, citizens will be able to use fun grass in a private place, such as their own home or a licensed site (like bars or pubs). How will this affect California negatively? Look at the official No on Prop. 19 Website. Many of their concerns are legitimate, and many, I feel, are not.

This documentary definitely fits within the category "whack people."

Meet Issei Sagawa, a Japanese dude who decided to kill a girl, rape her, then eat part of her body. He's felt cannibalistic tendencies since he was young, but had always suppressed them. One day, while attending University in France, he cracked.

What's even more amazing is that the French government allowed him to return to Japan where (as the French though) he would serve proper time and receive proper treatment. Anyone who knows anything about the criminal justice system knows that the only place you can pay for a crime is the place where you were charged with it.

So the guy went back to Japan, and was set free. Still alive today, he does whack pornos among other weird shit. This "sexual psychopath" has also become a sort of anti-hero in Japan. Awesome? You be the judge.

So we all know that Ross Kemp is hard as fuck. In this episode, he isn't hanging out with Jamaican gangsters or Polish soccer firms. Ross travels to Ecuador and Brazil to look into the horrific environmental damage being caused there. The oil drilling, logging, cattle ranching, and gold mining in these countries are polluting the Amazon, killing its abundance of animals and plants species, and helping destroy planet Earth.

This is the newest documentary in Frontline's arsenal of ass-kicking flicks. This one dissects a bunch of "hardcore" soldiers from Third Platoon. In Iraq, these guys got hit by 1000 roadside bombs, suffered the most casualties in their company, and saw their beloved sergeant get blown up.

If you aren't familiar with P.T.S.D. or post-traumatic stress disorder, it's basically when soldiers get back from shit that's violent, and can't adjust to normal life. They suffer from anger, depression, anxiety, hallucinations, and other crazy stuff that they can barely deal with. Basically every member of Third gets some form of PTSD.

In The Wounded Platoon, you'll learn about a bunch of guys who have their problems once back in the States. One dude kills someone, one guys shoots a gun into a party, and another guy tries to kill himself. Why? Because the US doesn't invest enough in hospitals to deal with this shit. Worst.

Paul Bernado and Karla Homolka were Canadian serial killers who attracted worldwide media attention when they were convicted of raping and murdering teenage girls. What is even more insane is that one of these girls included Karla's younger sister.

Basically Paul only gets turned on by violent sex, or sex with virgins. Whack, I know. He marries this young hoe who is so insecure that she will literally do anything for him, including lure young girls into drugged orgies with them. If you think that's sick, you don't even know the half of it. Watch it, see what other gruesome escapades these two take part in. If you're from the Greater Toronto Area, you have probably heard of all of this.

Ross is a legend. Period. If you don't already know and love his "Ross Kemp on Gangs" series, this should get you started. Here, he follows Neo-Nazi football hooligans who have become one of the most feared gangs in Europe. These idiots have nothing to look forward to in their lives, so they use violence as a means of escape, and Ross experiences first hand just how dangerous it can be when he’s tear-gassed at a football match.

At first it's funny at how racist and insane these people are, until you realize that this is real and it is not a joke. These people are actually like this. Check it.

Unexpectedly, this film goes deep in to the philosophy of pimping.

I never knew what Waco was until I watched this. In 1993, 70 some religious kooks were holed up in a compound out in the Texas mountains. Somehow a gunfight starts between them and the ATF. The gunfight lasts for 51 days. A shitload of people end up dying and there are many questions unanswered. It may be unclear what really happened, but this film does a fantastic job putting together the pieces. Academy Award nominated.

This one was recommended to me by my buddy Mike Wiktorek. Awesome documentary. I knew Detroit was a piece of shit, but I had no idea how many placed have been completely abandoned. When the auto industry exploded, the city was an amazing place. But when they started moving people out into the suburbs in order to make cars a vital mode of transportation, things started falling apart. No one lived in the city, and things started to suck. They say unemployment is as high as 30% in some areas of Detroit. This show gives a good look at how terrible the state of Detroit truly is.
