Beautiful Minds: A Look into the Psychology of Savants

A decently interesting doc exploring the minds of Savants.

This three part series first explores how savants with superhuman memory store information and hypothesize that we are all born with this ability, but our brain quickly filters information to show us just what is most relevant. Savants may have this ability turned off.

The next part explores savants and creativity, the "Einstein effect". A young boy learns to play the piano overnight and composes a full symphony by age 7, he has the balls to tell his teacher that his changes to a Beethoven song made it better. Another man is able to recall, and draw, an aerial image of Rome after a single helicopter flight in crazy detail.

The final part explores the possible differences between male and female savants.

I find psychology interesting and these docs had great information and insight. There is even an experiment where a professor "turns off" part of a girls brain with some electromagnetic shit and she stops filtering information allowing for somewhat savant like abilities.

Playlist is 2 hours and 28 minutes.
